CENTRO EUROPA
Santurce, Puerto Rico
This multi-use project occupies an entire city block in the Santurce area of San Juan. This building serves as a landmark for the renovation of this part of the city.

It borders the main avenue, Ponce de León, to the North, local streets to the East and South and the Las Américas Expressway to the West. The building's design responds to these different surrounding urban scales. It contains 37,400 square feet of retail area, 116,000 square feet of office space, and 614 parking spaces for tenants and general public use. The façade toward Ponce de León Avenue maintains the three story scale of the prevailing urban wall of this downtown location.
The office tower, which rises another 4 floors above the retail area, is set back from the avenue and overlooks the expressway to the South. The interior lobby of the complex is covered by a trussed skylight. Arcades are provided on the pedestrian sides of the building while overhangs above the windows on the East, South, and West façades protect the glass from intense sunlight.
A small entrance plaza is provided on the "Stop 22" corner as a gesture toward the importance of this intersection as the center of Santurce.
